Sonia (SUISSEedu) has been my study counsellor since the time I was still in high school. They came and attended our high school university day. She helped me with everything to get into my dream college and wouldn’t have met all the amazing people throughout my journey so far. I am thankful to have Sonia with me during my university study period of my life.

1. Studying in Switzerland – Why did you choose Switzerland as a study destination. And how was your experience studying at CAAS?

Switzerland was the best country for my studies as it has everything I was looking for in a degree and lifestyle. One reason being my career choice of interest, Switzerland is known for their hospitality and culinary background, therefore I would like to learn from the best. Another reason, would be the location of the country, it is in the center of Europe which makes Switzerland a melting pot of European culture. The experience in CAAS has been very enjoyable so far, with the great staff giving support and a diverse community of students to learn about their cultures. My advice for students who are looking to study hospitality and culinary is to make sure this is what you enjoy doing as it is a tough industry to be a part of. Like any other industry (not only Hospitality) you want to get into, you will need to have the passion for it to get through it.

2. My Program – Which program did you choose and describe in summary overall program about what you learned from the campuses.

The program I chose was the Dual Bachelor Degree in Culinary Arts.  This course focuses not only on the culinary side of your career but also the business and managerial side of owning your own kitchen/ business someday. Entrepreneurship is a huge learning aspect in this program. This program does not specialise in a specific form of cooking, we are taught the whole range of the culinary arts World.

3. My Internship – Where did you do your internships and which one was your best experience out of all?

So far I have completed my first year of college and successfully finished my first internship in Switzerland. I interned at the beautiful Burgenstock Resort which is a 5 star resort located in the mountains by lake Lucerne. The best of this experience was meeting other interns from different campuses and developing lasting friendships. An internship tests how our education from practical skills & theoretical on campus is applied in the real industry.

4. My Future – What are your goals after graduation? If graduated already – What is your current position and what do you do daily on your job. What do you love most about it, next career move?

What I would like to do in the future is uncertain. However, I definitely would like to remain in the path of culinary and handling with food. I still have a lot to learn at CAAS and much more experiences to gain. As long as I know I am following my passion and really happy to have the support from CAAS.
