Riddhi's story

I met Pauline and Sonia back in 2015 when I was searching for hospitality universities and haven’t lost touch with them since. They helped me decide my university and assisted with the whole process from the start to the finish line. They are a very professional, helpful and friendly team with a lot of knowledge and experience in this field. If you are confused about whether hospitality is the correct career path for you and/or unsure as to where to apply they will be the best people to contact! Forever grateful to them for making the process hassle free.

1. Studying in Switzerland – Why did you choose Switzerland as a study destination. And how was your experience studying at Les Roches?

The first location that came in my mind when I chose to follow this career path in Hospitality Management was Switzerland. One could easily say that it is the birth place of hospitality and is the place where the highest ranked universities are located. It has been a treat to be part of Les Roches so far. I have met some amazing people and faculty members. Memorable memories have been created, long lasting relationships have been made and with a few more semesters to go, I can firmly say that there is a lot more to come.

2. My Program – Which program did you choose and describe in summary overall program about what you learned from the campuses.

The program offered to students at Les Roches is a Bachelor of Business Administration and is the main reason why I chose it over other universities in the country. It is a BBA degree with a choice of a specialization in the final year. The first semester is where you learn about the various service techniques and then move onto kitchen service in the second semester. Being able to have a practical and theoretical understanding is very important as allows one to understand what has been learnt and apply it as well. From the fourth semester onward, everything is a lot more academic and theoretical. It is part of the course to do two internships in this in 3.5 year course which is one aspect that I have taken advantage of in order to understand which area I would like to specialise in the future.

3. My Internship – Where did you do your internships and which one was your best experience out of all?

I did my first internship at Four Seasons Resort Langkawi, Malaysia and had the most memorable 6 months. I worked as an intern in the Finance department which consisted of the following areas: Purchasing, Receiving, Income Audit, Account Receivables and Account Payables. I learnt a lot over the 6 months and could apply whatever I had learnt theoretically into the real world. In addition, since I was close to home I was able to fly back on the weekends! I will be starting my second internship soon and will be going to Pallazzo Versace in Dubai, and will be working in Revenue Management. I am looking forward to exploring a new place and meeting new people.

4. My Future – What are your goals after graduation? If graduated already – what is your current position and what do you do daily on your job. What do you love most about it, next career move?

What are my plans after graduation… Good question. Well, I would like to do my MBA and then get a full-time job in either a hotel or events company. At the moment, my future plans are very simple and will be given more thought in the coming months.
